As in the case of other misconduct brought about by the use of alcohol, when drinking causes an employee's work to deteriorate or drop to an unacceptable level, the supervisor is responsible for corrective action. Deteriorating performance has revealed many cases of early and intermediate stages of alcoholism before other visible or physical symptoms of the disease appear. If these conditions are ignored, they are unlikely to become better through the employee's efforts. They probably will only become worse. Economic loss through increased absenteeism, interpersonal problems, errors, and a reduction in the level of employee morale are bound to follow. According to the above paragraph,
C: if the early stages of work deterioration due to alcoholism are ignored, morale will be reduced.
