Police Entrance Examinations Inside New York State

New York is a "Civil Service State", which means that for you to become a Police Officer anywhere in New York, you must take and score high on a competitive written examination and then also pass a physical fitness test. Only then will you undergo a psychological evaluation and if you are successful there, you are in the driver’s seat to be selected from a candidate interview process.

Understanding and navigating the Police officer hiring process can be challenging and for many candidates. Not knowing what they are facing and how to best prepare to succeed keeps many candidates from ever becoming a Police Officer.
